We keep your job moving

Your crew opened a wall, or pulled up a floor, or the adjuster’s report came back with the word nobody wanted to see, and now the schedule is sitting on an asbestos problem. That is the phone call we are built for. Zero Hazard is a licensed Connecticut asbestos and lead abatement contractor that has worked alongside restoration companies, general contractors, remodelers, HVAC and roofing crews, and insurance adjusters since 2009. We know that the material is not the hard part of your day; the timeline is.

What working with us looks like

Call us and we move. One number, (860) 416-0229, and a person answers: Carlos, the president, or Sebastian, the project manager. Text a photo of the material and the lab report if you have one, and we will usually tell you the scope and the days on the same call. For a job that has stopped work, we can usually be on site within days, and we will tell you honestly when we cannot.

We file the state paperwork. Connecticut requires a licensed contractor for any abatement beyond a very small patch, and a notification to the Department of Public Health, filed at least ten days ahead, for the larger jobs. We file it, we plan the calendar around it, and we tell you up front if the ten-day clock is the real constraint on your start date.

Done right the first time, so clearance testing is not what holds up your rebuild. Full containment, negative air, wet methods, a certified crew, and a HEPA and wet-wipe final clean before the independent lab tests the air. Our reviews from contractors talk about the hand-off more than anything else: no debris, no nails, a space the next trade can walk into.

Insurance-ready documentation. The DPH notification, the passing clearance report from an independent lab, the waste shipment record, and copies of our license and certificates come to you as one package that drops straight into a claim file or a permit application. Certificates of insurance naming your company are available on request, with general liability and pollution liability coverage.

Fire, water, and contents. When asbestos has been spread by a fire or a flood, standard containment does not apply. Those projects are designed by an independent asbestos consultant, approved by the state as an alternative work practice, monitored on site, and cleared with a TEM air test. We have done this work for restoration contractors across Connecticut, including the contents: cleanable items decontaminated and staged, porous items bagged and disposed of as asbestos waste, so your rebuild starts on a clean building.

Lead, too. We hold a Connecticut lead abatement contractor license and EPA RRP certification for the pre-1978 rentals and multifamily buildings your clients are turning over.

Who we work with

Restoration and mitigation companies handling fire and water claims. General contractors and remodelers who found something mid-job. HVAC contractors replacing a boiler or ductwork with asbestos on it. Roofing and siding crews facing transite. Property managers and landlords turning over pre-1980 units. Investors pulling a demolition permit and staring at the asbestos line on the town’s checklist. Insurance adjusters who need a licensed contractor and a clean file.

“My contractor came in after the asbestos remediation/gut was complete and said he’s never seen such a clean gut job. No nails, no debris left behind. Made it very easy to move on with my reno project.”

“I was completely lost in the process of applying for a demolition permit for a home that I planned on rehabbing in central Connecticut. … He patiently walked me through the process, and immediately went to work establishing the state notification and abatement work. The process was quick, efficient, affordable, and clean. Apart from his aspect of the scope of the job, he also prepared me for the upcoming building inspections without worry.”
